![]() The guy who used to be too shy to talk to other kids, the guy who gets motion-sick in vehicles, beats the villain.īut, Cloud pays a high price. AND it also shows us what incredible strength lies dormant in this blond aspiring soldier. Now that's one of those hyper-dramatic anime scenes I wanna see. Cloud grabs the sword that is stuck in his stomach and yanks Sephiroth away with it. Not only do we see Cloud stabbing Sephiroth with the Buster Sword, but he is gravely wounded and we get one of the most iconic scenes in FF7. Embarassment is a deeply human emotion and once more I have barely seen it represented in JRPGs on such levels.įast forward yet again, and Sephiroth is destroying simply everything. However, when they return to Nibelheim on a mission, Cloud is too ashamed to show his face to his hometown. On contrary, he becomes fast friends with Zack Fair, a legit 1st Class SOLDIER. He wasn't good enough to join the 1st Class SOLDIERs but he doesn't seem bitter about it. This already gives us a first glance on the strength of his will to improve and to protect those he holds dear.įast forward, CLoud is a regular Soldier. Before his departure, he promises Tifa to protect her, if she ever got into trouble. In order to become stronger as a person he leaves Nibelheim to become a elite SOLDIER. Let's start at the very beginning: We're in the idyllic town of Nibelheim, home of little Cloud Strife aka the Final Fantasy Version of Kagamine Len (I'm not kidding, look at him)Ĭloud wants to join Tifa Lockhart's group of friends but he barely builds up the courage to talk to them. So, now I'm diving deep into the lifestream- uh, I mean FF7's storyline and try my best on a little character analysis. He's also a JRPG character I extremely vibe with. For me, his story-arc is incredibly well-written and he is one of the most human and authentic characters I've seen represented in JRPGs. He's an introverted, sometimes insecure but also incredibly strong person. Generally, Cloud is often reduced to a gloomy, emo boy, which is not really justified. No amount of Gongaga memes can outshine the purity of CC-Cloud. A young, polite, aspiring boy from the countryside who dreams to make it big. While in the prequel, Crisis Core he is a pure cinnamon roll. By the looks of it, he got Advent Children at 10 but gotta be at a My Chemical Romance Concert at 11. In Advent Children, his emo trop manifests even more: Black clothes, sad gaze. Not even his purple polygonn jumpsuit can ruin this kind of badass. Especially because of his entrance in the original FF7: That man sommersaults off a train and kicks some guards' butts soon afterwards. Personality-wise, Cloud comes of as hardcore at first. ![]() I'm just a weeb trying to gush about my favourite blond anime boi. This is MY interpretation, and I won't say any of the stuff I am writing here is psychologically or scientifically proven. English is NOT my mother tongue! I may make some weird mistakes, especially with wording and vocabulary, so please tell me if something confuses you. If I am mistaken somewhere with canon events, feel free to correct me! It has been a while since I played this games, so I'll be mainly doing this from memory. I haven't played Dirge of Cerberus nor have I read any of the Novels. However, I will cover the events from Crisis Core and the Original Final Fantasy VII, so beware of SPOILERS FROM THE ORIGINAL STORYLINE So, in that regard the analysis is completely REMAKE SPOILER FREE! ![]() I haven't had a chance to play the remake yet because of Covid-19. This blog will NOT contain any scenes from FF7R. This blog is build on the events of Crisis Core, the Original and Advent Children, since these are the only instalments in the FF7-compilation I have played myself So, in honour of this challenge, the recently released FF7 Remake and Cloud Strife per se, I'll be doing a litte big character analysis here. ![]() Together with Tifa, Cloud is one of my favourite characters in the franchise and I think his character arc is one of the best-concepted stories in the JRPG genre. Like, THE Final Fantasy character.Ĭloud is often degraded as Emo or too mainstream, but I think that conception is very wrong. Okay, so the #bestchar challenge is currently running and I realized that nobody has written about Cloud Strife yet. Now ᴘʟᴀʏɪɴɢ: Final Fantasy VII Piano Collections
